I'm Aaralynn, and I am an editor specializing in YA Fantasy and Dystopian. All genres of fantasy, sci-fi, and dystopian are welcome! Whether you have a high fantasy or a dystopian short story, I've got you. I have years of experience in the worlds of writing, editing, and publishing. With several published books of my own, I know what it is like to go through this process.

Q: What if I didn't write YA, fantasy, sci-fi, or dystopian?

A: You can still contact me! Though I specialize in these genres, I am happy to work in others. If you have a children's book, I have experience in those, too, and am happy to give you a special quote.

Q: What if I don't know what service I need?

A: Get in touch and we can work it out together! By taking a look at your manuscript, I can pinpoint areas that need work and what service would be best for you.

Developmental Editing

Every book must have a sound plot, satisfying story arcs, characters, believable motivations, and balanced conflict, as well as worldbuilding. This is where I come in to ensure all of these aspects connect, are structured well, and make sense for readers. Developmental edits also come with an editorial report on top of in-line comments and suggestions.

Copy Editing

Copy editing digs into the smaller details of your story, the way sentences flow together, and the accuracy of it. Not sure whether to use affect or effect? Or maybe you didn't notice how it says your character stood when they were already standing? This is where copy edits come in. I'll take care of those grammatical errors and inaccuracies for you.

Proofreading

Going even smaller, proofreading is done as the final stage of editing. It catches those little buggy errors before your book is published. A random misspelled word, a comma where it shouldn't be, or a missing quotation mark will all be caught during proofreading. Let's get your book polished up before it's in the hands of readers.

The Novel Bundle

Let's take your manuscript through the editing process from start to finish! We'll work from the biggest areas of focus like characters, plot, and worldbuilding, down to the smallest like small spelling and punctuation errors that somehow slipped through. We'll start with developmental edits, you'll review suggestions, then we'll go through copy edits, you'll make your final edits, and we will finish with proofreading.
